§ 2-132. Sale at auction and state law requirements.

  • (a)

    The county may sell at auction any and all court-awarded, unclaimed articles of personal property that come into its possession and have been abandoned, seized, or been the subject of a crime, after an effort has been made to ascertain the true owner thereof without success. Sale of such personal property shall not occur until the Superior Court of DeKalb County enters an order authorizing sale in accordance with the requirements of O.C.G.A. § 17-5-54, now and as it may be amended hereafter.

    (b)

    The county shall comply with applicable state law, including, but not limited to, O.C.G.A. §§ 17-5-54, 17-5-55 and 17-5-56, now and as such sections may be amended hereafter, in selling personal property at auction.
