§ 8-10. Citizens' advisory board.

  • (a)

    There is hereby created a CATV citizens' advisory board which shall consist of nine (9) members as follows:

    (1)

    One (1) member appointed by the county board of education for a term not to exceed four (4) years.

    (2)

    Each commissioner on the board of commissioners and the chief executive shall appoint one (1) member and the term of appointment for such member shall correspond to the term of office of the appointing commissioner or the chief executive.

    (b)

    A chairperson shall be elected by the members of the CATV citizens' advisory board, and such chairperson shall serve in that capacity for a term of one (1) year.

    (c)

    Any member of the advisory board missing two (2) consecutive meetings without just cause shall be relieved of duties and a replacement named.

    (d)

    All members of the CATV citizens' advisory board shall serve without compensation and no member or any direct relative of any member shall have any interest, as a shareholder or the holder of a debt instrument, in any grantee.

    (e)

    It shall be the duty of the CATV citizens' advisory board to advise the board of commissioners regarding utilization and coordination of the CATV system's facilities, equipment and access channels which are made available for use by citizens, government and educational institutions under the franchise ordinances granted hereunder.

    (f)

    Meetings of the CATV citizens' advisory board shall be held as needed at the call of the chairperson, but not less than once a year, with such financial and staff support as may be fixed by the board of commissioners.
